Today was our final day in Israel. We ended up hearing different perspectives before we left. First we heard a presentation by Women of the Wall, who advocate for women to have the same rights as men at the Western Wall. Later we heard from a Palestinian American professor, who gave his perspective on the history and future of Israel. In between we stopped by Yad L’kashish, a center for the elderly where they work on different art projects. This provides them with community, meaning and extra financial support. We then had one last time to shop at the Jerusalem shuk, and then we ended the trip on a high note with karaoke night in a tent. Although we are sad to be leaving Israel, we’re happy to be seeing old counselors and the familiar camp grounds one more time as campers. – Will N.
