Today we took a trip to Rosh Hanikra along Israel’s northern border with Lebanon. We discussed the geopolitics of the border and then took a cable car down to where the white cliffs met the Mediterranean Sea. We walked through the natural grottos that were carved out of the cliffs by the water.
After leaving, we arrived at Kibbutz Gaton which has world class dance school and touring company. There, we observed a dance class, took a tour of the kibbutz, and then had a dance practice of our own. We gracefully exited and headed to the ancient port city of Akko.
In Akko we saw the skyline of the city, which included mosques built by the Ottomans and explored the ruins of a crusader church and fort. We explored the multicultural city where both Jews and Arabs live. We then spent some time shopping in the shuq of Akko. Exhausted, we headed back to Kibbutz Shomrat where we swam in the pool, had dinner, and relaxed before bed.
